The Last Flight Out - Unseen Libya, on the eve of the first civil war

In December 2010, Charlie received a request from an unfamiliar UK publisher to travel to Libya to produce a book on the country. With little information and barely any information on the commission, he spent four weeks in Libya, from mid-January to mid-February. Accompanied by guards throughout, he photographed in every part of the North African country, documenting ancient and modern life, and the remnants of the colourful and diverse history Libya has seen.

Charlie left on 14 February - on the last day (unbeknownst to him) before the Green Revolution started.

The book never materialised. But, for the first time, more than one hundred photographs Charlie made can now be seen in this downloadable monograph!

Travelling Light

Back by popular demand - TRAVELLING LIGHT is now available as a digital download. Although the specific cameras used in the film have by now been replaced by newer models, the principles of using compact cameras to make great photographs remain valid.

Charlie Waite is 'Travelling Light' and seeking out some of England's most inspiring and photogenic locations.

With a selection of compact digital cameras instead of his traditional equipment, Charlie reveals that stunning images needn't be exclusive to larger cameras and proves that creativity and 'seeing' is the key to successful photography.

'Travelling Light' incorporates every aspect of the photographic process from composition and exposure to interpretive black & white. It reveals the secrets behind using a compact camera for successful macro photography, powerful portraits, dynamic action and wildlife images as well as ways to master expressive multiple exposures.

Charlie freely shares his insights, techniques and skills that have made his photographic style so recognisable.
