Perhaps my affection for the staircase comes from my family home in southern England. My regular dreaming nighttime flights from the top to the bottom of our staircase were faultless. No crash landings for me but a perfect landing as a feather dropping delicately to the floor. A staircase has featured in some form or other in a number of images that I have made and there is never a time when I do not go in search of one.
